Jessica Saunders: Bringing Drones to Life

1. How long have you worked with DSS?

I have been with Drone Sky Shows for 1 year.

2. What inspired you to join DSS, and what excites you most about your role in the drone light show industry?

I really enjoy carrying out any drone repairs and seeing the drones back in the air, lighting up the sky for shows. The audience’s reaction is everything and makes all the planning and preparation worthwhile. Working for Drone Sky Shows doesn’t feel like work; it feels like the most incredible hobby.

3. Can you share a bit about your professional background and experience in the drone, technology, or entertainment industry?

I am fairly new within the drone industry, I have a background in running events for over 14 years. I picked up a drone for the first time 18 months ago and have never looked back since.

4. What do you hope to learn, achieve, or accomplish during your time with DSS?

Everything drone-related from asset management to logistics, operational planning, site surveying and most importantly flying shows in a Master of Ceremonies (MC) and/or Remote Pilot in Command (RPIC) role.

5. Can you share a memorable experience you’ve had while working with DSS?

Definitely the show we did for Crown in Sydney. It was phenomenal; what we achieved in such a short space of time was nothing short of a miracle. The audience’s reaction was everything and one of my favourite shows we’ve done so far.

6. What attracted you to DSS as an employer, and what sets it apart from other companies in the industry?

The company is purely made up of a bunch of the most talented drone enthusiasts with a huge passion for drone light shows.

7. How do you see the future of drone light shows evolving?

The drone industry is currently displaying rapid growth all over the world, and I don’t think it’s going to slow down anytime soon. There’s a place for drone light shows within the events industry, and drone technology really seems to be levelling up to catch up with all of the demand.

8. What advice would you give to someone interested in pursuing a career in drone light shows?

Go for it, and don’t look back. Make contact with a drone light show company and get involved. Enjoy every minute of learning this industry because it’s by far the best.

9. How do you stay motivated and inspired in your role?

Learning something new pretty much every day, being surrounded by the best team of people, and doing what I love.

10. What do you enjoy doing in your free time when you’re not working on drone light shows?

Flying drones, learning FPV (First-Person View), and spending quality time with my family.

Jessica Saunders is an invaluable part of the DSS team, bringing innovation, expertise, and enthusiasm to every project she undertakes. We’re excited to see how Jessica continues to shape the future of drone light shows.
